Social interaction is an important context for individual development. The emergence of social media that can be accessed with the internet becomes easy and fast. One of social media is Instagram, which has many active users in adolescents. One of the adolescents interaction is negative interaction as cursing or insult.. Adolescence is a period of development of an identity that depends on the environment, hence adolescents tend to determine behaviors that can help to reward themselves (self-esteem) positively and negatively. This study aimed to determine the effect of self-esteem on cyberbullying in adolescents who use Instagram. This research used quantitative method. Measuring instrument used were Cyberbullying and Online Aggression Survey Instrument (2016 version) to measure cyberbullying, and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) to measure selfesteem.
The sample of this study were 134 of adolescents who use Instagram in Jakarta with aged 13 - 24 years. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression. The result showed that had significant effect of self-esteem on cyberbullying in adolescents who use Instagram.
