Application Multi Criteria Dimension Method to Support Waste Construction Management: A Review

The construction process has a large contribution on production waste when constructing the building which have a great impact to the environment. Regarding to that, the need of reducing waste for sustainable environment is increasing. Several strategy have been developed to reduce physical waste, such as waste reduction, reuse, recycling/recovery and landfilling. Yet, the strategy are often not efficient because of the improper of decision making. MCDM is a method that encompass several techniques developed to support decisions involving conflicting criteria, incommensurable variables, and several possible solutions or alternatives, and commonly used in weighting sustainable criteria including waste management. This paper explained about the potential of MCDM to support waste management in construction from literature review. From 13 paper reviewed, the most used MCDM method for waste construction from literature reviewed are AHP and PROMETHEE. The result of this paper are: AHP is most used for deciding demolition techniques for waste construction with social & safety, environmental, economic, and technical criteria. Meanwhile PROMETHEE is most used for deciding location for waste construction treatment with social, environmental, economic and technical criteria.
