Formulation of cantigi (vaccinium varingiaefolium blume miq) leaf extract loaded gelatin nanoparticles as anti breast cancer in vitro
This book is my beginning research to introduce the Cantigi plant (Vaccinium
varingiaefolium Blume Miq). The plants grow well surrounding the crater of Mount
Tangkuban Parahu, Bandung, Indonesia, and make it beautiful. This plant is in the
same genus Vaccinium as the famous, researched, and traded Bilberry plant. On
this occasion, I explored the in vitro potential of Cantigi leaf extract as anti-breast
cancer using BSLT, T47D cells, and MCF7. Tests were also carried out on normal
Vero cells to see whether the effect of the extract was safe on normal cells. Cantigi
leaf extract was then analyzed using GC-MS and LC-MS/MS methods to reveal
the content of volatile and nonvolatile compounds, in addition to the screening
method. In this research, efforts to increase cytotoxic activity and extract stability
are using gelatin nanoparticle technology. Then, experiments were designed and
conducted with three variables, and one of the gelatin nanoparticle compositions
provided the most potent activity against a cancer cell line. The nanoparticles were
then characterized, including their release profile at the pH of body fluids. This
book still has room for suggestions and development to improve. Finally, I hope
this book can contribute to the research of Cantigi as one of the natural medicine
sources.
