The purpose of the research is to produce etanol gel containing extract of temulawak which is clear and physically stable by using carbopol ultrez 10 as the gelling agent. To get the optimum concentration carbopol ultrez 10 was them made three formulas with the various concentration of carbopol ultrez 10, 0,5%, 0.75%, 1%. Etanol extract of temulawak was formulated by mixing etanol extract of temulawak with polisorbat 80 in to the gel bases. A blank formula without etanol extract of temulawak was made also. Gel was then physically evaluated (organoleptic, homogeneity, viscosity, rheologi, ability to spread, and consistension), chemical evaluated (pH), and antibacterial test. Stability test for 2 months at room temperature and at 40oC. Optimal concentration of polisorbat 80 as solubilizing agent for etanol extract of temulawak is 4%. Evaluation results show that etanol extract gel of temulawak, there is no color change at room temperature and at 40oC, also it is still homogen. The viscosity of blank gel, formula I, formula II, and formula III measured by viscometer Brookfield type RV 0,5 rpm increased at room temperature by 164800-464000 cps, and at 40 oC decreased by 107200-439200 cps. The rheology of the blank, formula I, formula II and, formula III is plastis at room temperature and 40oC.The pH measured is between 5,66-5,71. The results show that etanol extract gel of temulawak is able to inhibit the bacterial 8-12 m.
