PADA MENCIT YANG DIINFEKSI Plasmodium rnberghei STRAIN ANKArn(A) xiv + 73 page; 7 table; 8 image; 9 attachmentsrn(B) Key words: Alstonia scholaris, Momordica charantia, antiplasmodium in vivorn(C) Malaria is still on of the most dangerous parasitic infection in some regions of rnIndonesia, especially in high-risk groups ie infants, toddlers and pregnant rnwomen. Plasmodium falciparum genus has a tendency become resistant thanrnanother genus. To slow the rate of resistance, WHO recommends to investigaterncombination of new sources antimalarial drugs which are more effective againts rnPlasmodium falciparum. One of the potential sources of antimalarial drugs is rntraditional medicinal plants. In this work, we studied the in vivo antiplasmodial rnactivity of ethanol extract of the leaves Pulai (Alstonia scholaris (L.) R. Br.) and rnextract of bitter melon fruit or pare (Momordica charantia L). Combination rnextract were evaluated in vivo using male mice strain Swiss which infected by rnPlasmodium berghei strain ANKA. This study purpose to known the rnantiplasmodial activity and find out the sinergic effect of this combination. The rnmethod of 4-days-suppresive test was used. The extract of Alstonia scholaris (L.) rnR. Br. leaf dan Momordica charantia L. fruit tested with a combination ratio 5: rn0, 4: 1, 3: 2 , 2: 3, 1: 4 and 0: 5 give result of percent inhibited consecutive rnamount of 76,89%; 68,99%; 66,65%; 66,20%; 60,21%; and 72,83%.rnCombination of both extracts showed antiplasmodial activity but didn’t showrnsinergic effect. The best ratio of antiplasmodial activity was found from single rnextract dose 30 mg/kgBB of Alstonia scholaris (L.) R.
